Visit the Magical Tegalalang Rice Terraces, Ubud, Bali
Tegalalang Rice Terrace is one of the main tourist attractions in Bali. It is located north of Ubud in a beautiful valley. From hotel Agung Resort Ubud, it’s an easy 20-minute drive (about 8,3Km), no difficult roads. Tegalalang Rice Terraces should definitely be added to your Bali Route.
Once you are at Tegalalang, you can enjoy the view from on top but it’s also possible to hike down and walk up on the other side again. We definitely would recommend hiking down. You will need anywhere from 30 minutes to 1.5-hour to explore every corner of the area. Make sure to take water and sunscreen!
Tegalalang is best in the morning or in the late afternoon. Tourist buses will arrive around 10 AM, so make sure to arrive before that. If you don’t have time to visit at these times, don’t be scared by all the cars parked at Tegalalang. Just hike down and get up on the other side, which is a lot quieter.
We went here with sunrise, probably one of the most magical moments we had on this trip. It rained but once the sun started to rise, it stopped raining and it became a little foggy.
Owners of the rice terraces will ask you for an entrance fee, 10000 RP per person is a good amount, which is around $1.
You can also combine Tegalalang with one of the many waterfalls.
